June 9 Virtual Field Day Info

Please plan to join us on June 9, 2020 at 8:30am for our live Zoom discussion where our scientists and experts will be available for you to ask questions and provide further information about their research. The session is free and requires no special software or equipment, but registration is required.

OSU is hosting some virtual field days for 2020 in replacement of our Pendleton and Sherman Field days. We will be sending out a series of video presentations in coming weeks. On June 9th we will be holding an online meet-up with the scientists and experts.

Agricultural Wildfire Webinars

May is wildfire preparedness month and OSU Extension in Sherman/Wasco Counties have several online opportunities for people to start thinking about the upcoming fire season as cheatgrass and other fuels are already quickly drying out.

These webinars will be recorded and available via YouTube and other platforms TBD.

  • Free online Agricultural Wildfire Course. The course is online HERE

A certificate is available upon course completion. The course covers how to develop emergency action plans, powerline and fireline safety, defensible space, fire control, and fire behavior. This course provides training that meets that of an annual Ag Wildfire refresher, which is a new Oregon OSHA requirement. Even if you do not have employees this course covers good material for living and working in rural eastern Oregon.

Sherman & Wasco Co. Crop Tours

There will be two evening webinars that will be the now virtual Sherman / Wasco County Crop Tour.

1 ODA pesticide credit is anticipated at this time for each webinar.

  • Monday, June 1st, 5-6 pm, Canola Pest Management and Rotational Benefits for Weed Control. Webinar and virtual tour of canola in Wasco and Klickitat Counties. Register Online HERE
  • Tuesday, June 2nd, 5-6 pm, Alfalfa Weevil Control and Integrated Pest Management. This webinar will discuss control strategies for Alfalfa Weevils, Chlorpyrifos alternatives, and the use of IPM strategies. Register Online HERE
