Drone Workshop for Crop Producers, March 18th, 1 pm, Moro, OR at the Sherman Experiment Station

Do you want to learn how drones can be used to improve crop production and reduce weeds in field crops in North Central Oregon? The focus of this class will be to put producers in touch with drone mapping and spraying services and provide additional information on how producers can access and utilize drone technology on their own. Guest speakers include ODA, Rob Stoddard of Good Ground Ag Services, and Mike Davis, CGCC drone instructor, drone operator, and FAA trainer through his own drone business (UAS-AG) based in Wasco County. In addition, Peter Foley with Ag Copter will also describe the weed mapping services he can provide and showcase his technology. Live drone demonstrations are planned. This training will take place both indoors and outside at the Sherman Experiment Station on Tuesday, March 18th, from 1 pm to 4:30 pm at 66365 Lonerock Rd, Moro, OR 97039 starting at the OSU Extension Conference Room. RSVP not needed. Three pesticide credits are anticipated at this time.

  • FAA regulations for drone use in agriculture
  • Spraying demonstrations with large drones
  • How multispectral drone imagery can be used to detect weeds, determine crop nitrogen needs, and other uses
  • Local drone services and additional training resources
  • Brief update on stripe rust and 2025 wheat crop conditions
