The Commission annually solicits proposals for research projects that will provide direct benefit to Oregon wheat producers. These proposals are then presented to Commission members at the annual research review for prioritization. Final decisions are made through the budget process.

GENERAL TIMELINE

• Pre-proposal deadline: November 13, 2026
• OWC staff review of pre-proposals by December 18, 2026
• Full proposals due: January 8, 2027
• Anticipated Commission review of full proposals: February 1, 2027
• Anticipated Commission decision on proposals: May 2027
• Contracts Executed: June 2027
• Project Execution: July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2028

The Oregon Wheat Commission is seeking pre-proposals for wheat and barley research for the fiscal year July 1, 2027 – June 30, 2028. Pre-proposals should be submitted no later than November 13, 2026. Submit to tsimpson@oregonwheat.org using the form below.

Commissions research priorities include maintenance of the current core programs serving wheat producers, followed by consideration of new proposals with particular interest in those addressing enhanced grain quality, a range of cropping systems, sustainability and weed management.

Pre-proposals should be no longer than one page in length, clearly explain the objective, the expected grower benefit and the project cost with requested funding amount. Pre-proposals must be submitted electronically to researchproposals@oregonwheat.org.
