2021 Session

Policy Committees are expected to have informational and organizational meetings the week of Jan. 19th, but are not likely to begin holding hearings on actual measures given the new posting requirements of the virtual session (for example, the House has a 72-hour posting requirement for the first public hearing on all bills).

Important 2021 Dates

  • February 19th LC Returns Bill Drafts
  • February 23rd Bill Filing Deadline
  • March 19th 1st Chamber Work Session Post Deadline
  • April 13th 1st Chamber Bill Deadline
  • May 14th 2nd Chamber Work Session Post Deadline
  • May 28th 2nd Chamber Bill Deadline
  • June 18th Target Sine Die
  • June 27th Constitutional Sine Die

*Bill Deadlines do not apply to Rules, Revenue & Finance and Joint Committees (except Transportation)

2021 Virtual Session info:

SENATE CHAMBER

  • Public Hearing & Work Sessions on different days - at least 48 hours apart
  • No time limits on public testimony and to allow for questions
  • 24-hour posting notice for bills and amendments before they can be adopted

HOUSE CHAMBER

  • First Public Hearing on a measure requires 72-hours’ notice
  • All Other Meetings require 48-hours’ notice
  • Amendments must be posted for 4 hours prior to committee action
  • Fiscal and Revenue Impact Statements (FIS/RIS) are required for any work session
